Bugeaters grab top recurits, finish with top 25 class (#23 rivals)

Nebraska's top recruit for 2010 may be Brion Carnes QB of Bradenton, Fl. Brion was quoted as saying "I'm not afraid of anything," in the Omaha World Herald today. Apparently the young man hasn't witnessed the bugeater sideline when coach Bo Pelini rips into a young player for making a critical mistake. Or maybe he hasn't seen the talent/playing ability of current quarterback, Cody Green. Maybe he just hasn't seen the bugeater faithful after a demoralizing loss to _______ (enter ranked opponent here). With the current roster of capable quarterbacks, Brion may learn that competition might be something to fear.
Safety Corey Cooper from Maywood, Ill. looks to be a nice addition to the bugeater defense. Known as a hard hitting safety that also played wide receiver, he should be a welcome addition to the blackshirts. Lavonte David and Chase Rome should be solid impact players early in their careers as well. Most recruits stated that relationships with the coaching staff and the unbelievable facilities were decision factors.
With the Spring game just around the corner, and selling about 45,000 tickets in the first day, it's a strong indication of bugeater football and what's next.

Bugeaters shutout Wildcats

The Nebraska Bugeaters wrapped up decent 10 win season with a 33-0 win over the Arizona Wildcats in the Holiday Bowl on Wednesday night. Nebraska dominated the Wildcats in every aspect of the game, defensively they allowed only 109 yards. The offense racked up 396 yards and looked like a scoring machine in the first half.
It was a signature win for a program trying to re-establish itself as a powerhouse in college football.

Ndamukong Suh AP College Football Player of the Year

Ndamukong Suh named AP College Football Player of the Year. At least the media guys got it right. "It's a great choice," Nebraska coach Bo Pelini said. " I give (the voters) a lot of credit. I'm not taking anything away from Ingram or McCoy or any of the other guys. I just think at his position, you would be hard-pressed to say there's a better player than Suh. He's had a tremendous year."

Heartbreak in Dallas for Bugeaters, Texas wins

With 0:00 showing on the clock, the Bugeaters and all of Nebraska celebrated a Big 12 Championship win over Texas 12-10, Saturday night in Dallas. Wait. The referee waved his hands over his head and then motioned for Nebraska to clear the field. And then, after an official review, the referee adds one second to the play clock and Texas now has a shot at a game winning field goal. If you prematurely celebrated the victory with the rest of the Nebraska team, don't shame yourself. It's that very desire to be a champion that makes us what we are, the greatest fans in college football. So when Texas kicker Hunter Lawrence put it through from 46 yards and crowned Texas, we knew what they were feeling because we just felt it ourselves.
The Bugeaters allowed 13 points and 202 yards to a Texas offense that coming into the game averaged 40 ppg and 400 yards. Heisman hopeful, Colt McCoy was sacked 9 times and passed for 184 yards with three interceptions. The should be Heisman winner, Ndamukong Suh dominated the game recording 12 tackles and 4.5 sacks. The defense played with scrappy confidence and made a strong claim for being the best in the nation.
The offense was, has been all year, and is the issue for the Bugeaters. The Bugeaters managed only five first downs the entire game and gained a measly 106 yards. No team, no matter how good the defense, wins a BCS football game with that kind of offensive output. Offensive coordinator Shawn Watson maybe looking for a job this off season. I would argue he deserves one more year to put it all together, but it sure is frustrating at this point to watch the Bugeater offense.
The last second field goal and win for Texas puts them into the National title game against Alabama. Nebraska will likely play a PAC 10 foe, in the Holiday Bowl.
Finishing the season with a 9-4 record and loss in the Big 12 Championship game, the Bugeaters are definitely headed in the right direction.

Bugeaters will beat Texas

It will take all the luck and offense the Bugeaters can muster, but a Saturday night win and Nebraska could be playing in a BCS bowl game. Follow the game plan. Defense will be tough, and need to keep McCoy in check. The defense must score, or make it easy for the offense to score. Don't lose track of the ball and build on the defense. Slow Texas down on the ground and double team Shippley. Make a few kicks and we upset them. Do this and the Bugeaters win. Down with Texas.
It's been a rewarding year either way, ALL- AMERICAN Ndamukong Suh Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year, Crick, Prince, Asante First Team Big 12.
